President Obama can earn my respect by rejecting the pork, admonishing the House, and asking them to come up with something more effective.
By emphasizing the direness of the current Economy, Obama has accomplished two things:
1. Garnered support from the American people support from some kind of stimulus package
2. Managed to frame things in such a scale that a lot of money -say $200,000,000.00 seems like a drop in the bucket compared to $825,000,000,000.00!
Conservatives are grudgingly willing to concede that some spending on infrastructure is necessary but no one really thinks that hundreds of millions spent on STD research, Cemetery memorials, and new Government cars right now are going to stimulate anything.
President Obama, please show me that you are more interested in what might really help the economy than in furthering the Democrats' political agenda!
